Oakland Chapter
The Oakland chapter was founded in 2000 by passionate and dedicated women motivated by the simple objective of service. We are excited to build upon the strong legacy of service established by our chapter founders, Nicole Ennix, Michelle LeNoir, and Regene Ross. Charter members are Katharine Ennix, the late Jane Grisham, Beth Johnson, Casie Johnson, Denise LeNoir, and Elaine Needham. We literally stand on the shoulders of GIANTS, many of which are still active members!
The Oakland chapter has worked with the local Police Activities League (PAL) and The Elizabeth House to identify the families in the community with the greatest need, this has been a strong partnership for over 15+ years. We work with the families to create a “wish-list” of needs and wants. On gift delivery day, we arrive with most of the requests on the “wish-list”. The expressions on the children’s faces of awe, joy, and gratitude are priceless. This is why we do what we do. Oakland’s successful annual “Party with a Purpose” fundraiser has provided Christmas cheer to hundreds of deserving Oakland families for nearly 20 years. This chapter is an anchor in the community and the members are committed to the mission of Twelve Days.
Greetings from the Oakland Chapter of The Twelve Days of Christmas, Inc.
I’m honored and humbled to serve as chapter President. We are excited to embark on a period of significant growth and expectation. I’m pleased to announce that our year over year membership has doubled to over 30 in 2019. These women all bring unique talents, innovative ideas, proven leadership, resources, and a dedicated passion for service. The group has an infectious spirit and energy. Together we are collaborating on different ideas for new programs and services to build on the chapters rich legacy.
Speaking of legacy, the city of Oakland has a rich and storied history of activism and service. Over the last 19 years our chapter has served as a trusted and dedicated partner with the local Police Activities League (PAL) and The Elizabeth House to serve hundreds of families in the Oakland Community during the Christmas season. Our annual “Party with a Purpose” is Oakland’s signature event of the year. We bring together our diverse community for a night of great music, delicious food, laughter, and festive celebration. Over the years, the event has generated thousands of dollars, and brought joy to hundreds of families in need.
The chapter thanks and appreciates the generosity of our volunteers and donors. The needs of our community are growing and we are here to meet the challenge. Your continued love and support provide our chapter with the unique privilege of placing smiles on many children's faces, and serving up joy during the Christmas season.
It's a blessing to pay forward what has been so richly deposited in each of us.
